Comparing the "old" Xbox 360 form factor with the new version, with an old vanilla PC box nearby for additional comparison...

Continuing in our new series on Eridian weapons technology in The Secret Armory of General Knoxx… This is the second new Eridian weapon encountered: the Eridian glob gun.
The first thing that came to mind when seeing “glob gun” on the hover description is, “Oh, like the spiderant spittle?”
Nope: something more fun and exciting… corrosion damage! And, not-as-much-fun, like the flaregun, this is an arc trajectory weapon. 
Will the wonders never cease? 
This next Borderlands revelation is, of course, a weapon drop. Now, a lot of you Borderlands fans on Xbox LIVE have pooh-poohed building out the Eridian weapon proficiencies because, based upon the comments from your mod-errific PC counterparts, the Eridian weapons have been “dumbed down” for the Xbox 360 version.
Well, while that may (or may not be) true, there’s still some fun to be gotten in The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, with the new Eridian flaregun type!
Yep: it’s what it sounds like… an incendiary Eridian weapon, just like the old PC specifications have pointed toward.
Good times, folks, good times.
After several grueling hours spread across a couple of days, I’ve managed to complete the trio of Mad Moxxi’s Underdome’s larger arena tournaments.
It certainly was quite an ordeal with a single Level 50 character, without the support of a comrade who would be able to revive you when you get downed (and that happens a LOT!), especially with a lot of the indirect fire from the baddies– or if the baddies are super-souped-up on speed and able to zip in and out of cover faster than even you can fire…
Unfortunately, I may have also encountered something unsettling: somehow, I managed to lose my favorite ivory (NOT white!) colored repeater pistol prior to exiting the last of the tournaments. I’m not sure if it is a bug that occurred during the exiting process, or I had inadvertently dropped it in the heat of combat. Hopefully, I’ll have a chance to find something like it again…
Just in time to break up that boring Turkey-Day chit-chat: the first Borderlands DLC is now available at the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 MS points.
This DLC extends the fun, hilarity, and mayhem that is Borderlands.
If you haven’t logged into your Xbox LIVE yet, you may notice a request for software update once you fire up your Xbox 360 console.

Just when you thought that the $100 discount on the Xbox 360 Elite console packages was a way to achieve new price parity with the PlayStation 3 price drops… Microsoft [MSFT] strikes yet again, hot on the heels of the exciting Modern Warfare 2 limited edition Xbox 360 Elite announcement, with an additional Xbox 360 Elite price deal.
This time, it is a $50 rebate on the Xbox 360 Elite when purchased between now and October 5, 2009.
