Why not celebrate the birthday of the new WordPress 3.0?
A few days after the third release candidate for WordPress 3.0 (RC3) was unveiled– something like less than one week, even– the FCS release of WordPress 3.0 is now available!
Congratulations to all of the WordPress developers, admins, and users who have kept the project alive and kickin’! 
Jane Wells posted earlier today about the postponement of the WordPress 3.0 release, and how the WooThemes’ navigation modification feature fits into the postponement and the revised schedule.
Admittedly, it’s tough to compete with the excitement that we all know as Borderlands and the release of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, but then again, getting more details about WordPress 3.0′s eventual release is nifty, too.
And let’s not forget last year’s (year-end) management consideration post about WordPress over at Javamancy … 
(If Jane was in our buddy list, this would certainly be one of our famous “Hey, what’s going on about this?” moments…)
WordPress 2.9.2 was released to the public earlier today to address a security vulnerability.
If you have tried to click on the calendar widget (on the right hand sidebar), you may have noticed that December 2009, and even earlier months, have the wrong number of days and, in some cases, a messed-up display.
This appears to be something in WordPress itself. Sorry for the inconvenience, folks!
After a short beta and RC1 cycle, WordPress 2.9.1 has been released and is now available for download, as announced earlier today.
Wow! While the release candidate for WordPress 2.9 has been available for awhile now, the FCS version was made available earlier today.
With all of the commotion today, some of you may have inadvertently missed this lil’ tidbit o’ news!
If you’re a WordPress blogger or developer, you will certainly want to take a look at this…

Oh, and, folks: There are a couple of new features that will certainly pique your curiosity (at the least) and may be of great interest to many of you who blog on a moderate-to-frequent basis.
(Like, say, the global undo feature… FINALLY!!! Or the built-in image editor…)
WordPress 2.8.6 was released earlier today.
It contains some fixes addressing security exploits found in WordPress 2.8.5.
Guess what made code drop today?
Yep, you guessed it: WordPress 2.8.5.
While there is quite a lot of focus on the upcoming WordPress 2.9 release, there has been progress on prepping the current 2.8 codeline for further stabilization.
There have been issues in the past with OpenID integration with WordPress and mismatch issues between OpenID’s behavior with anti-spam measures, such as Bad Behavior (among others).
Bad Behavior is a fantastic PHP-based anti-spam tool, and it is available as a WordPress plugin (among other supported systems), so it was a natural fit for Javamancy. But OpenID opened a strange can o’ worms that included issues with Bad Behavior.
So, with version 2.0.29, has Bad Behavior reached an equitable stance with regard to OpenID? 
In addition to WordPress 2.8.4 being released today, WordPress MU 2.8.4 is also available, addressing the same security issue.
