Ouch! Twitter got hacked earlier… but it’s back in service now.
Is it easy or hard to imagine that a social announcement service like Twitter would get trashed by miscreants?

A Xbox LIVE system update is due today, so if you are logged in, you may be asked to log out momentarily to accept the update. If you are in the process of logging in, or haven’t logged in yet, you will be asked to accept the update.
This update is intended to prep XBL for the upcoming social software capabilities that were touted earlier this year, including Twitter, Last.FM, and Facebook.
Several people have commented to me about wanting to know why certain people, especially corporate officers and other company officials as well as government folks, visit/use/manipulate Twitter frequently.
I’ve even had a several teenagers and a couple of early-20′ers ask me about Twitter. They’ve told me that they just don’t “get it”… quite a surprising statement (superficially) from these people… until I realized that these “kids” aren’t the technophiles that the mainstream media loves to report about– these are the young’uns that have been bypassed by several generations of current online technology that have arrived in the past few years.
However, I also think it’s surprising since there seem to be so many articles and books floating around about Twitter…
Twitter is coming back alive now… a little bit at a time.
Folks, check your Twitter pages to ensure that you’re still there!
Here’s the blurb from Biz Stone on Twitter’s blog page:

Uh-oh!
For those of you who are absolutely addicted (or, at the very least, seriously fixated) on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed that the service is not responding to your Web browser. Or your iPhone app. Or your Flash client.
Apparently, there’s severe service outage today. Like now. Right N-O-W. It’s been going on for awhile now thus far, but it hasn’t come back.
Was wondering, since Larry Hryb has announced that he has reached 50,000 Twitter followers…
How about adding Twitter-related Achievements and Achievement Points to Xbox LIVE accounts? Hmm, Major Nelson? How about it? Eh? Huh? Please? Pretty please? Puh-leeeze?
Another question (since we’re asking anyway): Does adding Twitter feeds here make sense?
Is Google [GOOG] trying to fetch all of Twitter, too?

Javamancy on Twitter.com…
Many of you have probably guessed this one, but in case you didn’t figure it out (yet):

Folks: Like many of you, I’ve been busily testing the Twitter pages to make sure that things are being reactivated.
Clearly, everybody (including me) slamming the login page incurs a severe performance penalty, so please be patient.
