MacBook Pro Models Updates Announced Today

Apple [AAPL] announced that they are making their MacBook Pro updates, across the board between the 13″, 15″, and 17″ models.

Updated processors (including quad-cores for 15″ and 17″ models), newer graphics controllers, lighter weight, FaceTime HD cameras replacing iSight, and introduction of “Thunderbolt”… Good times.

What’s the New Position for the MacBook Air?

There will probably be a longer post appearing at Javamancy (the Weblog) later, but here’s a bit of curiosity: now that we’ve been exposed to netbooks for a long time, and we’ve had the original MacBook Air for awhile, as well as the regular MacBooks and MacBook Pros, and recently the iPads… How do we, as potential consumers, see the smallest MacBook Air ever, at 11.6″ screen size, being positioned?

Still peering around at all of the MacBook-like (or, perhaps more accurately, (attempting to) resembling MacBook Pro) PC notebooks popping up… Anybody particularly enamored of any of them?

    The Upcoming Apple Mac Tablet

After months of fevered speculation, some trickling of “info” (real, or fake?) has been appearing across various news sources and repeaters about an Apple [AAPL] Mac tablet, perhaps using the P.A. Semi series of PowerPC CPUs and a screen size comparable to the no-longer-produced 12″ PowerBook, to finally fill in the gap between the iPod touch and the 13.3″ MacBook.

Until this new form factor appears, you’ll have to satisfy yourself with the Axiotron Modbooks.

The excellent surprise during the WWDC keynote, which appeals to more of the general public, is Apple’s [AAPL] revamped Mac notebook line.

The 13.3″ aluminum MacBook is finally renamed to what it really should be: MacBook Pro. Aligned with the seemingly minor renaming is the very-major hardware spec upgrades. The other two size form factors, the 17″ and 15.4″, also received hardware spec improvements.

The 13.3″ polycarb MacBook White was already updated several days prior, with its own hardware spec upgrade.

Even the MacBook Air got a price drop and hardware spec upgrade.
