Ever have one of those Sheldon-”Bazinga!” moments as you’re going about, doing whatever it is that you do, something routine-ish… and unbeknownst to you, it just sneaks up on you, and then– “Bazinga!”
I was installing a new showerhead, one of those with the supposedly pipe-tape-less configurations; it came with a plastic bolt and plastic wrench-y tool instead. According to the instructions, just hand-tighten the bolt onto the fixture pipe, and then use the wrench-like affair to make the bolt secure. After I finished attaching the remainder of the showerhead (a chrome sleeve and a plastic nut) and its handpiece and hose, I decided, “Ooh, let’s take a shower.”
Apparently, I did not tighten the bolt to the “secure” mode: water began pouring out from the interface between the pipe and the bolt, which was partially hidden by the ‘sleeve. While the water pressure seemed to be fine from the showerhead, it was disappointing to see that there was a leak… not just a few drops, or even mild rivulets of water, but a steady stream of water emanating from the interface.
“Bazinga!“
