How to Iteratively Delete .svn Directories: The Debate

Oooh, this is odd… a one-liner for deleting .svn “files”, but with a potential bug…

Adam Bien posted about a one-liner UNIX command that he found to “remove all .svn files”.

It’s close, and it definitely resembles an old DevPal script that did the same thing– which is to iteratively delete .svn files from a given location.

But the UNIX rm command– which is found on many different UNIX-like systems, including Linux– has a maximum limit to the size of the in-memory graph of parameters it will accept. Once it exceeds that limit, it will stop parsing along the submitted parameters and just die.

    N.B.

I’ll post a bit more about this over at Javamancy later… acquiring that infamous Wonderwaffe x 3 achievement in CoD:WaW under harrowing solo conditions has been quite a trip. ;-)

And if you are wondering how to activate those newest CoD:WaW achievements: you’ll have to download the Map Pack 3 DLC from Xbox LIVE.

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 — Der Riese

    Whoo-hoo! Mega-zombie-slaughterfest!

Once again, there are more Achievements and Achievement Points to earn…

But it really gets scarier now… I’ve noticed that my lone character seems to have gotten even slower during walking (and running) and a bit sluggish on turns and spins… and the zombies have learned how to dodge, climb, jump, and leap around on the map!

There are a couple of workflows that function fairly well if you are out to quickly activate the power… But what about the power-up slot machine?

Time to check for that CoD:WaW Map Pack 3…

Unfortunately, with the Twitter being out of service, it’s tough to tweet about it…

Hmm… Why are the zombie levels in CoD:WaW so addictive? Especially this latest one in the Map Pack 2?

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 — Shi No Numa Crazed Hell Hounds…

    WTF!

At first, I was quite shocked when, around Round VII in Shi No Numa, there was a bout of disembodied manical cackling, followed by loud lightning balls (like St. Elmo’s Fire) next to my character, and then smoky-fiery Hell Hounds materializing out of the lightning and then– oops! My character died.

As I’ve kept playing the map, I thought it was a fluke that I lasted to Round VII before the Hell Hounds showed up. They started to appear on Round V.

    Or so I thought. :-(

To be clear, I’ve only made it to Round IX on solo in Shi No Numa. :-)

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 — Shi No Numa First Play…

    Wow!

Sure, I’m not the supreme CoD player, or even the top CoD zombie-slayer, but I really enjoy the varied layout and flow for the new Shi No Numa (Shi-no Numa?) zombie map. Like the Verruckt map released in Map Pack 1, this one is a much larger environment, and allows for a lot of differing gaming styles. However, in terms of defensible areas, this new map definitely tops Verruckt for the lone player.

You do have to watch out for the hellhounds… but those are the breaks.

And, no, the Wonderwaffe DG-2 isn’t as great as some folks would have you believe. You should do a lot better with the grenade-bearing rifles and the MP-42 SMG… ;-)

    Wonderwaffe DG-2…

Have you ever wondered with game designers or developers like to toss in some fortuitous Easter eggs or in-game goodies just to see how you’d react?

I wonder about Map Pack 2 (for CoD:WaW), in the new Zombie map…

I decided to gamble at one of the “?” weapon boxes, and I ended up getting a freakish-electrical discharge weapon, the Wonderwaffe DG-2. Not much ammo, but quite a spectacular electrical spectacle (heheheh)! Initially, I thought that its area of effect was akin to a shotgun, but apparently not: you do need to aim somewhat accurately. But there seems to be some splash damage if you’re good, so that compensates for the low ammo loadout and small magazine.

Now, where’s my favorite ray gun? ;-)
