    Still No Borderlands Update?

Last night, on a lark, I popped in the Borderlands disc to see if the anticipated level cap increase update was released into the wild (of Xbox LIVE, anyway).

    Unfortunately, no dice.

Where, oh where, art thou, Borderlands update? :-?

Happy daze! Well, mostly “happy days”, except for the timing of the impending Call of Duty: Black Ops release, on November 9, 2010! :-)

Still Waiting for Your DNF Pre-Order? Randy Wants to Hear from You…

So, you’re still waiting for your Duke Nukem Forever pre-order to come through? Well, apparently, you may not be the only one!

… And it’s not that Randy wants to actually hear personally from you… (unless you have him on speed-dial, ‘natch)

You may have heard that Gearbox Software, the guys behind Borderlands, have acquired the DNF license and are moving forward with development. But Randy Pitchford, the Gearbox president, has been trying to start talks with various retailers who were taking pre-orders for DNF when it was originally announced years ago… perhaps to gauge how many pre-orders may be still out there.

This may benefit folks who still have their intact, legible receipt, presumably. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get a special gift for your special status. It’ll be interesting to see how this saga continues.

Borderlands: Clap Trap’s New Revolution… Starts Now

As of today, the newest DLC for Borderlands, entitled “Clap Trap’s New Revolution”, is now available for download from Xbox LIVE, for a mere 800 MS Points. It weighs in at about 1.35 GB, so make sure you have plenty of disk space on your hard disk (or USB drive, if that’s the way you play).

Borderlands to Gamers: Yep, Something’s A’Brewin’!

It seems there are further rumblings in the forasphere that is continuing to trickle into the blogosphere about an upcoming fourth DLC for Borderlands, that wacky-fun “RPG shooter” from the folks at Gearbox Software.

There’s even some rumblings that have bled through to the twittersphere intimating that there was a “leak” of information from the latest Borderlands PC patch that points to something coming very soon– which could still be a month or so away. :-)

You Don’t Know Jack– Er, Claptrap!

Some of you have mentioned that this business about “CL4P-TP” seems kinda outlandish and incomprehensible to you.

Okay. Fair enough: read up about the lovable mascot/plot device from the Borderlands game.

    Borderlands: It’s Claptrap Time!

You’ve probably always thought it’d be slick to have some of CL4P-TP’s quirk-a-matic quips on a Web page or as a ringtone, right?

Well, today’s your lucky day: Gearbox Software has foisted a few Claptrap sounds over to Larry (of Major Nelson fame) to post on his blog, for your downloading and usage pleasure…

Borderlands: Running with Scissors… and the New Eridian Weapons

Has anybody noticed that, while The Secret Armory of General Knoxx has introduced quite a few tweaks for the main game, including replacing several of the more-fun red weapons chests with the less-fun white weapons chests, it has provided faster movement when one of the newer Eridian weapon types is equipped, but it has not updated the older Eridian weapon types with better movement.

Things that make you go, “Hmm…” :-?

    More Borderlands Mayhem?

Other than a somewhat brief quote from Take Two Interactive’s [TTWO] Ben Feder about continuing Borderlands support via add-on content, there is less than any real information about a potential upcoming fourth DLC pack for the popular “RPG shooter” game. And it is certainly possible that his statement may have been taken out of context or merely misunderstood. Is he referring to new content, or repackaging of the existing three DLC packs?

    Borderlands: Threading the Needle…

At this point, many of you have tasted a bit more of Borderlands‘ third DLC, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.

As you’ve been sampling the new vehicle types, you may have been wondering: What is the deal with the Racer?

Sure, it’s fast (in general), but its turbo boost is too short-lived, its armor is abysmal, and its rocket launcher doesn’t track.

So why is Mad(ame) Moxxi so hot-to-trot about it, for the mission to rescue Athena?

    Yep, you guessed it!

It’s a plot device that involves driving a Racer, and timing the use of its booster at an opportune moment, to get into the prison where Athena is being held. And the challenge is actually a two-parter! So don’t use the Racer just once, and then discard it in favor of a Monster or a Lancer vehicle…

And, when you’re dealing with the first challenge, note how it really does resemble threading a needle. ;-)

    Borderlands: The Eridian Rifle

    Wow! You’re not dead yet?

With all of the fascination with the Eridian glob gun and the Eridian flaregun, in The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, you’d think that the fun would’ve been done ‘n over with, on the lightning-type weapon side…

    And you’d be wrong.

There’s yet another new Eridian weapon type available, and it’s a lightning weapon. Called the Eridian rifle, it fires bouncing electrical balls, giving you the ability to do those trick angle shots, similar (but not identical) to the Eridian blaster, that fun lightning wave weapon that gives you those nice flashbacks of One-Eyed Jack’s revolver.

For the Soldier, you can really rack up the extended magazine clip for the Eridian rifle; for the Siren, you can have fun with accelerating the electrical balls for that fantastic light show that confounds and amazes your targets… just before they drop dead from the shocks.

    You can just imagine it:

    “Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha–”

    <Zzzzzzap!> <Plunk!>
