Oracle VDI Client Now Available for iPad

If you’re an iPad user (original or iPad 2), you’ve probably been languishing, wishing for a decent (and free) secure RDP-style client that provides you access into your VDI systems.

Oracle [ORCL] has successfully cleared and launched the Oracle Virtual Desktop Client in Apple’s [AAPL] App Store! If you’re running an Oracle-type VDI or Sun Ray setup, you should fetch a copy of this iPad app to try out. :-)

    Preparing for “iPad 2″ Announcement

Just when you thought it’d be fun to check on the current iPad pricing at the online Apple Store, you encounter this:

Yep, the Apple Store is temporarily unavailable, in preparation for today’s iPad 2 announcement.

And it’s hot on the heels of last week’s MacBook Pro updates, too! Apple is on a roll!

With CES 2011 just around the corner, it’d be fun to speculate on whether there will be something cool like this line of wishful thinking that popped up on Twitter:

    Wouldn’t it be cool for 2011 if there’s a hybrid 11″ iPad-MBAir? In its standard leaf configuration, it’s a MBAir… (link)

… but you can unclip the 2 halves and have an iPad (screen) and a Bt keyboard with the trackpad! (link)

With the extra space in the keyboard half, additional sealed Li+ battery can add more life to the hybrid. (link)

And you could have all the extra ports on the keyboard half, too, so docking the iPad half w/ the keyboard half lets you do lots more. (link)

After all, ever notice how the 11″ MBAir and the iPad are the same width? ;-) (link)

So, with this tidbit of a challenge, are there any manufacturers with something comparable? Like an Android or Windows Mobile-y hybrid computer-tablet?

    Beatles in iTunes Client Page

Here’s what the mega-rollout of the Beatles songs on Apple’s [AAPL] iTunes looks like:

Fun, fun, fun... now that Beatles are being brought forward in time for a new generation.

What’s the New Position for the MacBook Air?

There will probably be a longer post appearing at Javamancy (the Weblog) later, but here’s a bit of curiosity: now that we’ve been exposed to netbooks for a long time, and we’ve had the original MacBook Air for awhile, as well as the regular MacBooks and MacBook Pros, and recently the iPads… How do we, as potential consumers, see the smallest MacBook Air ever, at 11.6″ screen size, being positioned?

Android or No Android: Why Not Everybody is Happy

You’ve probably heard from friends that they’ve momentarily toyed with the idea of getting an Android smartphone, but after playing with several different models, they inevitably decide to wait and see whether Apple [AAPL] will finally release their iPhone on carriers other than AT&T [T].

Here’s yet another opinion about the issues with Android.

Is everybody thinking the same thing at this point? Hmm…

    Apple Media Event Today

In just a matter of minutes (or about half an hour, more or less), Apple [AAPL] will hold its September media event, which has historically been used to announce multimedia devices and software, either as new items or product updates.

The event is scheduled to begin 10:00 AM Pacific time (or 1:00 PM Eastern time).

And whenever there are product rollouts, the online Apple Store has a habit of being temporarily suspended (in terms of access) to allow the new product SKUs and entries, including any pre-order screens, to activate after the conference.

Rumors Intensify: iPhone Coming to Verizon

So, it seems that the technocrowd buzz revolves around more rumors about the end of the AT&T [T] exclusivity over Apple’s [AAPL] iPhone, and the heavily anticipated offering of the same smartphone by AT&T’s rival, Verizon [VZ].

The timeframe for the iPhone being offered to Verizon customers appears to be January 2011.

    Apple iPhone Day

You’d think it was an early Christmas, or something like it, judging from the lines of (im)patient iPhone “wanters” (or perhaps, “iWanters”) outside of the various Apple Stores across the country, such as the one in the Clarendon district in Northern Virginia. It was only a few months ago for the iPad rollout that the iWanters congregated for a new Apple [AAPL] device. Oddly, there did not seem to be any iPaders or iPod-touchers lurking in the line… was this a strictly iPhone-only iWanter bunch?

Once the stores opened, the flocks of people began receiving their treasured smartphones as quickly as the customer service staff could hand and process them out. And, as a plus, given today’s mega-swelter in the Washington, DC area, some iWanters also received a free bottle of water. :-)
