Sometimes, it’s nice to just have a few of the objects in question side-by-side to visually compare the differences in size.
Comparing the "old" Xbox 360 form factor with the new version, with an old vanilla PC box nearby for additional comparison...
Andrew Nacin has posted on his blog ( http://nacin.com/2011/12/07/wordpress-3-3-field-guide-for-developers/ ) about some tips ‘n gotchas with the new WordPress 3.3, now in RC2 form.
If you’ve never heard of Basetrack.org before, it’s a war journalism blog about the US Afghanistan operations, as told through the eyes of the photojournalists in the field that have been chronicling the Marine 1/8, as they were deployed and the aftermath. Rather than just a staid, sanitized “pop” war coverage, it brings a more personable view to it is worth checking out.
Even Jane Wells has posted about it! (Although, from the perspective of how WordPress was used, technically…)

Yes, I know, I know, the standard black Astro A40 is my “regular” one, but when Astro Gaming announced the Saints Row 3 versions, I just had to get the purple one!
I never thought I’d mention Call of Duty or Modern Warfare, with something like my favorite scribble-bed, Moleskines, together… And yet, here they are.
MW3's content-packed journal, flanked by my red Moleskine notebook and my black Moleskine graphbook.
Yes, you finally get to see my current brace of bona fide Moleskines– I’m in my red-colored cycle for the lined journals, and the black spined-type cycle for the graph books. The notebook in between my Moleskines is, of course, the commemorative Moleskine-like journal included in the Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition set. It actually strongly resembles one of the black-covered squared Cahier format, albeit with really tiny grid rule, in case you’re interested in getting your own and starting your own writing epic about Modern Warfare 3. 
Yep, I got it.
Sometimes you just have that hankering for the action that the Call of Duty franchise is renowned for. Modern Warfare 3 looks like it won’t disappoint, even after the hot prestiging action and ice-cold zombie blasting that Black Ops has become well-known for. And if you know me, you know how much zombie-slaying I’ve done.
So, on launch day, I picked up Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3… the Hardened Edition.
In the Northern Virginia area, the snowstorm has begun!
And yes, it’s probably at least one month early. But given this year’s craziness– earthquake, tropical storms and hurricanes (with plenty of instances of power outages and flooding, ‘natch)– this may be just one of several odd unseasonal weather effects.
It’s curious that only some areas have snow sticking to the ground, whereas other locales just have intense rain.

I just realized that I’ve fired up 117 games, displayed on the Xbox LIVE portal. Cute, right?

But here’s the news:
Atlassian has added Git support to their BitBucket code hosting service, alongside its existing Mercurial base. So now, whether you are a Mercurial or Git user, you can keep your code at BitBucket.
Atlassian, the development tools/hosting vendor, has announced its acquisition of SourceTree.
Atlassian has been adding to its product and services portfolios over the past few months, and this latest acquisition helps to solidify its OS X / Mac support, by bringing in a standalone SCM client that supports Subversion, Mercurial, and Git. The company is SourceTree, with its eponymous product, and it is one of the few contenders in the small market for commercial dedicated “Subversion and newer” SCM tools.
Occasionally, as a result of these acquisitions, some companies offer deals to sweeten the deal and attract developer interest. In this case, free SourceTree licenses are available for a limited time.

Actually, even older (and somewhat thinner and smaller): a 3.5″ floppy disk drive, and a blue floppy disk to go with it!
