    Butterbeer? Hmm…

Here’s an interesting story about butterbeer at the new Universal theme park for all things Harry Potter: http://tell.im/3f

And here’s another story about how to prepare your own, in the comfort of your own home (at least, the non-alcoholic version): http://tell.im/3g

(Both are AP stories, by way of WTOP.com)

Rumors Intensify: iPhone Coming to Verizon

So, it seems that the technocrowd buzz revolves around more rumors about the end of the AT&T [T] exclusivity over Apple’s [AAPL] iPhone, and the heavily anticipated offering of the same smartphone by AT&T’s rival, Verizon [VZ].

The timeframe for the iPhone being offered to Verizon customers appears to be January 2011.

Panda Raccoon: Michael Shanks, or John Davison?

I never would’ve thought to scan about for a Michael Shanks look-alike. But while following a link about E3 tech on motion scanning and motion control, I encountered an article by a fellow who looks remarkably like Michael.

If you’re not familiar with Michael Shanks, he is perhaps best known as the Daniel Jackson character from the Stargate SG-1 and other Stargate TV series.

So who is this doppelganger, you’re wondering? Meet John Davison, a GamePro employee.

(Sorry for the mismatch in image sizing…)

    Hitler’s iPhone 4 Troubles

Of course, humorous (and sometimes, not-so-humorous) parodies abound when it comes to tech foibles and missteps. The latest blurbs about Apple’s [AAPL] iPhone 4 reception are certainly no exception.

And you may have wondered when the next Hitler (or Hitleresque) parody would pop up. Well, wonder no longer: Mike Ingram Jr. has posted one on his Posterous account.

    Apple iPhone Day

You’d think it was an early Christmas, or something like it, judging from the lines of (im)patient iPhone “wanters” (or perhaps, “iWanters”) outside of the various Apple Stores across the country, such as the one in the Clarendon district in Northern Virginia. It was only a few months ago for the iPad rollout that the iWanters congregated for a new Apple [AAPL] device. Oddly, there did not seem to be any iPaders or iPod-touchers lurking in the line… was this a strictly iPhone-only iWanter bunch?

Once the stores opened, the flocks of people began receiving their treasured smartphones as quickly as the customer service staff could hand and process them out. And, as a plus, given today’s mega-swelter in the Washington, DC area, some iWanters also received a free bottle of water. :-)

Would it be more fun to switch to using the Twenty Ten theme, rather than continue with the updated P2 theme?

Confusion at the WordPress Homestead… Terminology Mish-Mash?

Just when you thought things would finally settle down and be nice and, well, relaxing, there’s that issue of the new/revamped terminology used for WordPress 3.0… Check out Andrew Nacin’s take on the terminology shifts, and be bedazzled! ;-)

This concern has been present for a few months now, with the UX shifts, but now that WordPress 3.0 has gone FCS, this is something that install staff and administrators will have to see to believe… :-D

    WordPress 3.0 Now Available

Why not celebrate the birthday of the new WordPress 3.0?

A few days after the third release candidate for WordPress 3.0 (RC3) was unveiled– something like less than one week, even–  the FCS release of WordPress 3.0 is now available!

Congratulations to all of the WordPress developers, admins, and users who have kept the project alive and kickin’! :-)

    Hayabusa Returns to Earth

After several years of space travel, the Hayabusa space probe has returned to Earth with (hopefully) clean samples from the asteroid 25143 Itokawa, its target destination for study. It has been reported to be successfully retrieved, according to the JAXA press release.

    The iPhone 4

Finally, the numbering scheme for Apple’s [AAPL] flagship communications device has been simplified again, for the general masses. ;-)

Soon, the news about the new iPhone 4, which had the hubbub earlier this year “pop up” about a lost proof-of-concept model (or was is really a prototype, when all is said and done about it?), will be rolling out in a press conference from Apple later today.

In addition to the device itself, there will most likely be some mention of the iPhone OS 4, the new operating system slated for release to not just the iPhone, but also the iPod touch and iPad platforms.
