    Second Borderlands DLC Coming Today…

The second Borderlands expansion, in the form of a Xbox LIVE DLC package, is slated for availability later today. Entitled “Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot”, it finally adds the much-requested stash feature, in the form of a “bank”. It also brings onboard a new “riot mode” to entice the mega-combat players… :-D

Since we’re big Borderlands fans here, it may seem like a no-brainer that this would be a definite acquisition…

And we’re still waiting on news about Borderlands II;-)

    White Christmas?

Will the Washington, DC area get that wondrous white Christmas this year?

We just had a massive snowstorm a few days ago, and while many of the primary thoroughfares have been cleared for public consumption, there are still plenty of secondary roads that desperately require attention.

Some weatherpersons are reporting the possibility of another large snowstorm coming into the region, however, so perhaps it could happen…

    Severe BlackBerry Network Outage

RIM’s [RIMM] severe network outage that began yesterday afternoon has continued overnight, but according to a few news outlets, it is just starting to improve (although not necessarily resolving) for a few customers. This outage appears to be a worldwide effect, and many of you have voiced your serious frustration with RIM and its dependence on its proprietary network structure for base communications functions that other communicators do not require.

And, even worse, this massive outage follows just a few days after the last outage.

Disclosure: I don’t have a BlackBerry device, so I’m immune to its adverse network effects.

The Snowfall is Over… Now Comes the Hard Part

Well, it looks like the blizzard has wrapped up its massive multi-day snowfall… which is great, but now comes the arduous task of digging ourselves out of our homes, assessing the damage, and making preparations to circumvent the inevitable re-freezing overnight and over the next few days.

Chugging Along: The Mega Blizzard of 2009

The snowfall appears to have continued unabated overnight and into this morning. In fact, it seemed that just a few minutes ago, it accelerated!

Oh, and, folks: There are a couple of new features that will certainly pique your curiosity (at the least) and may be of great interest to many of you who blog on a moderate-to-frequent basis.

(Like, say, the global undo feature… FINALLY!!! Or the built-in image editor…)

Imminent: The Mega Blizzard of 2009

Earlier, the weather people across the various radio and TV sources had been hedging their bets on the estimated time of arrival for the snowstorm by pushing back the time to as late as just after midnight tonight.

Now, however, the latest news is that it will be entering the main portions of the region as early as 9:00 PM… and some of the outlying areas may actually experience snowfall earlier than that by a few hours.

Coming Soon: The Mega Blizzard of 2009

The breaking news for the past couple of days has been about an impending massive snowstorm expected to hit the Washington, DC area.

At first, it sounded like something somewhat small-ish… but late yesterday and today, it escalated to something huge…

Folks, plan to be snowed in, in many places in the DC metro area: stock up on food and other essentials (toilet paper, ‘natch), and get some diversions ready. This may even be a good opportunity for some quality family time together… :-)

Ouch! Twitter got hacked earlier… but it’s back in service now.

Is it easy or hard to imagine that a social announcement service like Twitter would get trashed by miscreants?

    A Bit of Snow?

Although there has been a lot of skepticism shown toward meteorologists in the Washington, DC area for decades concerning snow forecasting, there may be something to the news over the past couple of days, and into today, about a very large snowstorm heading to the region.

Earlier reports had the accumulation at around 3″ – 8″, but that has been upgraded to 4″ – 12″, depending on the precipitation bands. I suspect that the estimate range will increase… After all, when it rains, it pours… and when it really snows, it just dumps a helluva lot. Right? ;-)
