Last year, on October 7, 2008, McDonald’s [MCD] had launched its Monopoly game, incorporating a much greater online component to enhance customer participation. Today, the 2009 edition of the game, both the bricks-and-mortar and online formats, will start shortly, further reinforcing its online game to encourage more ubiquitous access and to drive gathering more of the game pieces (typically from purchasing qualifying food products). This time, McDonald’s has gathered together a lot of advertisers and prize partners to further penetrate the potential audience population, to better address the long-standing complaints against its prize offerings. Ostensibly, this means that while the chances to win may not dramatically improve, at the least prize mix may be more aligned to the economy-strapped public’s demand.

Once the game wraps up on November 2, 2009, it will be interesting to find out whether the game has a better draw this year…

And, let’s not forget, people: Good luck, folks! (And share the wealth with me if you strike it rich!)
