If you go to Starbucks [SBUX] stores, you’ve probably noticed the recent new campaign to promote improved foodstuff freshness and simplification.
Starbucks Recipe: Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie
I wandered in today, to use the free Wi-Fi to catch up on some dev work, some reading, and smidge of blogging when I noticed a stack of 5″ x 8″ index card looking items on the front counter… Picking one up, I realized what it is: a recipe for “Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie”, printed to look like a custom index card (complete with the horizontal rule, ‘natch). And on the reverse side, Starbucks’ explanation for their new company-wide product change to promote “simpler recipes and taking out artificial ingredients”.
Quite a laudable endeavor. But does that also apply to selling third-party products that contain artificial colors and flavors?
If you’ve enjoyed, or at least tried, IZZE soda-like beverages, you may have wondered if those colors and flavors aren’t a bit enhanced…
