No way out?
After days of intense haranguing, negotiations, tirades, tentative agreements, and lots of other drama, it seems that there are a few key money lenders in Chrysler that are refusing to deal with the federal government, the unions, Fiat, other shareholders, and other interested parties. Thus, it appears that, without that last minute change-of-heart, Chrysler will be entering into Chapter 11 shortly.
This would change the landscape of the automotive industry in the US…

It’s starting to sound like the feds have decided to stop negotiating to avoid bankruptcy.
For something inherently corporate in nature, there is a lot of politics involved. This is somewhat scary, since people’s livelihoods are being gambled by others who are apparently only peripherally impacted (and only in the form of some dividends and payback when the company goes under)…
