In yet another sign of the economic times, Google [GOOG] has announced that about 100 of its in-house recruiters are being terminated from employment. This follows a long procession of recruiters and headhunters getting fired.
Although the job applicant pool continues to rise precipitously, many employers have argued that their recruiters and outsourced employee searcher are not bringing in the qualified talent that they need to stay afloat in the ever-increasingly competitive market.
This would imply that the better talented/qualified recruiters are the ones who, based upon merit, are keeping their jobs and helping others find jobs, while the less capable recruiters are unfortunately joining the unemployment lines with their erstwhile targets.
Oh, the irony!
