In a few minutes, or in some cases a few hours, Circuit City stores nationwide will be starting their liquidation “sales”, as the implementation of Circuit City storefront closures begins.
Since the company’s bankruptcy announcement yesterday, people have been chomping at the bit to find out what kind of discounting would occur during the liquidation process. It is not difficult to ascertain that it is the typical discount-further-as-you-go scheme: the consumer needs to gauge for him-/herself whether to get an available product at a lower discounted rate, or try to wait and see whether the product will be available at a higher discounted rate.
This will obviously lead to an increase in traffic to and from Circuit City outlets, as people try to get in and snag the items that they were unable to acquire during the (pre-)Christmas/winter holiday sales period.
