McDonald’s [MCD] is launching its 99¢ Filet-o-Fish deal starting tomorrow. It’s been more than two years since McD’s has offered the Filet-o-Fish sandwich at a reasonable price, so it’s been a long time coming. Some unnamed McD’s executives have responded in the past that, given the existence of their Dollar Menu, the need for product discounts is no longer required to attract consumer attention.
However, it’s extremely evident that, given the current financial crises globally, having product discounts on things that have a high profit margin anyway in order to entice customers to come in… well, that’s just good business sense.
