Larry Hryb (“Major Nelson” of Microsoft’s [MSFT] Xbox Live fame) had posted earlier that the downtime for Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com is:
- A preparatory exercise for the still-coming-soon new Xbox LIVE experience that was demo’ed during this year’s game conferences (like E3);
- Impacting both the Xbox LIVE service and the “My Xbox” section of Xbox.com only;
- Not introducing any new features;
- Essentially a system maintenance event.
Additionally, Larry twitters that the maintenance is still on-schedule.
