Hot on the heels of its iPhone rollout at the Best Buy retail chain that began this past Sunday, Apple [AAPL] is giving its September product announcements under its new “Let’s Rock” program, starting at 1:00 PM ET (10:00 AM PT).

There have been a lot of rumors abounding… and a lot of people are expecting several of these to be confirmed at today’s meeting. But: which? We can turn to a site like MacRumors for some of the juicier ones, like:

  • The long-awaited iPod nano refresh, particularly a “long” candy bar shaped one, with a bigger screen that sports better resolution than the current chit-like one;
  • Some cosmetic changes to the iPod touch shell/exterior;
  • Firmware updates for the iPod touch and/or the iPhone, including critical functionality upgrades for the latter, in light of recent problems and missing features being griped about;
  • iTunes 8.0;
  • Mac refreshes: unfortunately, the rumors are mixed about these…
    • MacBook and MacBook Pros are not expected to be announced or rolled out… MacRumors is reporting that this is unlikely to be mentioned today;
    • iMac is also not expected to be announced or rolled out, which is unfortunately, given the length of time that has passed since the last major iMac refresh and Intel’s new consumer-targeted CPU launches;
    • Mac Pro is unlikely to be announced today, given the Intel roadmap for the server- and workstation-based CPUs.

Of course, we all know about Steve’s propensity for his “One More Thing” declarations, so there may be quite a gem that is held until the last moment for unveiling. :-)

HDTV shows via iTunes, for Apple TV and computers… $2.99 for the HDTV shows, and $1.99 for the SDTV stuff.

New iPod nano: it seems to be on the mark, in terms of the previously discussed appearance on various blogs. Also, we’ve got bright, vibrant rainbow colors for the new iPod nano.

And if you’re a fan of shaking stuff, you can shake the iPod to force it to shuffle its playlist. Slick!

New iPod touch: thinner, more rounded contour with a stainless steel look, a speaker, integrated volume control. Hmm… is “Genius playlist creation” worth it? And what’s with the built-in Nike+iPod in the iPod touch? Hmm…
