The New Starbucks?

The Setup

Yesterday, as I was sitting at the Ashbrook Starbucks store enjoying my last coffee refill of the day, I overheard a couple of young persons talking about a blog called Javamancy that had been reporting and discussing the goings-on at Starbucks back in July but seemed to have mysteriously stopped. While they saw that there were still posts rolling out since July, there did not seem to them to be anything new about Starbucks since then.

I didn’t want to startle anybody or intrude on their lively conversation, since it was also interesting to me to observe the youngsters browsing the Internet on their iPhones and Centros. There was even one gal using a BlackBerry Pearl! More research for the wireless convergence stories, right? :)

The Premise

Not a bad idea to reintroduce Starbucks events to you, gentle readers.

It’s been awhile since we focused on the activities at Starbucks, the corporation and the local storefronts. Other than a mention of Starbucks during my quest for Wi-Fi in Hawai’i, I hadn’t actually posted Starbucks news or intrigue since leaving for the conference.

As I was contemplating the progress of the internal DevPal dev rigs and the ongoing development of the wireless convergence stories, I’ve realized that there may be plenty of opportunity for a series of Starbucks-related posts.

The Action

So I’m researching several items of interest related to Starbucks and its plans to innovate and transform its image. Over the next few days, you’ll start to see posts released here about the initiatives and curious events at Starbucks. Some of them may be of interest to you, and some of them may raise more questions than answers. But it’ll be fun, eh? ;)

More Reading

Here’s some earlier posts that discuss recent Starbucks events, including initiatives intended to freshen the company’s image in the public’s mind. These other related Javamancy posts are listed in reverse chronological order:
