Remember the previous news reported here about the anticipated Xbox 360 console price reduction?
Starting July 13, 2008, Best Buy [BBY] (and other retailers) will be offering the “standard” Microsoft [MSFT] Xbox 360 console for $299.99 USD, which is $50.00 less than the previous price. For a lot of folks, Best Buy is the most common stop for Xbox 360 games and other products, so this is quite an event, particularly for serious gamers looking to augment their existing rigs with additional base units.
Stay tuned for further news about any other pricing changes to the other Xbox 360 console versions.

Update: A lot of news blogs and other outlets have picked up on our story, but there seems to be a lot of confusion about the barebones version of the Xbox 360 console.
The fact is that the Xbox 360 Arcade Version is currently not being discounted at this time; however, you may see small retailers offer it discounted if they’re willing to take the price hit in order to move the models. Keep in mind, however, that these machines do not have the Xbox 360 hard disks, which make them much more attractive for people who want to later tack on a hard disk.
