“What?!? My WordPress got hacked?!?”
Surprising as it sounds, there are still a lot of WordPress blogs that have not been updated to version 2.5.1, purported to be the current stable version. Often, it is due to technical reasons (e.g., plugins or themes that do not work with the newer versions) or “I don’t have time to upgrade!” (yeah yeah yeah, AKA laziness).
Donncha O Caoimh posted a 6/8/2008 note about detecting whether your WP blog has been hacked, and some steps on dealing with it.
So, check your WP blog ASAP, and take the necessary steps.
