The Setup
For a few days now, I’ve been browsing through various link collection/directory sites, trying to get a large sampling of code and product data and even theme packs for a several projects. The recurring thought throughout this process has been, “Gee, why is sampling so onerous these days? Isn’t there an easier way?”

Fuddruckers: The Setup
A few days ago (this past Thursday (6/26/2008, ‘kay?)), I went over to Fuddruckers to celebrate Tom’s birthday.
Several days before that (on 6/15/2008, in fact), we’d gone over to Fudd’s, only to find out that they had yanked their tomatoes, due to the Salmonellois outbreak. As we sat in our large circular booth, [...]

As many of you know, and some of you have figured out, I use Macs.
It isn’t merely one or two Macs, either. No… let’s just say, “Several. Oh yes, M-A-N-Y.”
Because of the army of Macs milling about, it’s important to make sure that a codified standard tool set is available on each of the machines [...]

It’s hard to believe that today is the one-year anniversary of SnipSnap’s project termination.
After a good start for the wiki-blog software/framework, it seemed as if the convergence of interests in a lot of different blog and wiki packages started to cause otherwise good projects to lose mindshare. SnipSnap was one of those projects, despite having [...]

A few years ago, I was named in a coffee table style book on Java and its influence on modern computing:
Hello World(s)! — From Code to Culture: A 10 Year Celebration of Java Technology
It was one of those things where folks take some time to recognize contributors to Java, the language and the platform. It [...]

Remember my rant (post-memory upgrade on the Mac Pro) about Firefox 2.0 bombing around 900 MB-ish RAM utilization level?
Here’s a quick update:
It looks like Firefox 2.0.0.14 is still hanging on, without crashing. Thus far, it’s pushed to the 1.18 GB RAM utilization level, and there’s still 1.33 GB of free system memory not yet touched.
Excellent!

For folks who need that “extra ooomph” in explanations of potentially serious health risks (or because reading text may be somewhat… challenging), the FDA has prepared a one-page PDF that outlines the current state of affairs associated with their public activities surrounding the tomato-related Salmonellosis. While the events described in the PDF have been going [...]

The Setup
A couple of Sundays ago, I was doing research for my upcoming trip to Hawaii, and–
… Okay, you caught me! I was actually just lolling around on the sofa, channel-surfing, when I came across the Travel Channel, which was showcasing Hawaii, including its beaches, the “do’s and don’t’s” of traveling in Hawaii, and Samantha [...]

The Setup
This is becoming an all-too-frequent occurrence these days:
I was minding my own business, relaxing at the Alexandria Starbucks (yes, it’s somehow managed to turn into the Javamancy Annex over the past several weeks), when a person would sidle up next to me, look lustfully at the PowerBook (PB), then say something like, “Er– so, [...]
