The Silicon Alley Insider (SAI, or Alley Insider, depending on how you roll) is one of those fun poli-biz-tech-haha blogs that offers an entertaining twist to the news that they’re reporting from the business and technology convergence points.
I started visiting SAI a little more than a year ago (as of this writing), when there were tons of rumors floating around about a wave of upcoming layoffs at AOL. At the time, getting timely, accurate information about the company internally was virtually impossible, so bloggers and “respectable” reporters from the outside offered the only reliable news sources for the hard-working employees just trying to stem the tide.
It was frequently quite amusing to read not just the original posts being tossed on the blog by the contributors, but also the comments left by other readers. In a sense, very much like the old-time BBS’es from the 1980′s, the blog has garnered quite an eclectic mix of commenters.
After my retirement from AOL, I decided, “Hey, let’s start posting comments on Alley Insider, too!” After all, I enjoyed reading other people’s comments a lot, but sometimes, there’d be a few extra things I’d like to toss into the proverbial mix as well… keep drivin’ that banter into all sorts of tangents, or redirect it back to the original topic at hand.
If you haven’t been there yet, swing by there. If you like reading the comments, if you spot “Steve” leaving comments, and the active URL points back to Javamancy, it’s most likely me!
